Who We Are

mariaWomen of Hope (WOH) was founded in 2006 and is led by Maria  Ashmore, a breast cancer survivor and the 2007 Susan G. Komen “local hero”of Montgomery

Women of Hope consists of an Executive Board, Professional Board and Members-At-Large, all who have in some way been affected by breast cancer. Members of the Executive Board are dedicated to the daily operation of the organization as well as sharing life experiences and mentoring breast cancer families, while the Professional Board is dedicated to responding to specific medical and technical facts and aspects of the breast cancer experience.

Members of the medical community who specialize in cancer treatment are enthusiastic supporters and many serve on the group’s professional board. Many Women of Hope members have first-hand experience with breast cancer and its devastating outcomes. This experience provides us with the insight necessary to most effectively utilize our resources to reach many men and women who seek support. Our empathy is an effective tool for supporting families and providing them with a living portrait of HOPE!

The inspirational WOH logo of two angels locking hands connected by the pink breast cancer ribbon is symbolic of strength, courage, friendship and the bond of HOPE for those coping with breast cancer.
